A little play in my Speedplays(5 posts)

A little play in my Speedplaysmlbd

I've got relatively new Speedplay X1s--they have 300 miles on them at most. Yesterday I noticed the right pedal has a little play in it. At first I thought it was just a loose connection between the cleat and pedal, but it's not. The pedal itself actually has a little play in it so that if I grab the pedal and push it up or down it shifts a tiny bit about the spindle. Is this a bearing problem? Any suggestions? Thanks a lot.

300 miles seems very soon to have wear problems, however, They may have a problem from the factory. It may even be a warentee item. They are pretty servicable & some of the bearings are replacable, while others require being sent back to Speedplay. I would definatly take them back to where you bought them & let them deal with them. Your other choice would be to contact Speedpaly directly (I am sure that their contact info is on their web site) and ask them what they think. I have always found them to be quite helpful.

I you can get the x2 it not a weight thing but a bearing issue. The bearings in the x2 are a LOT better. That is part of the reason the zeros cost more is all of them use the better bearings.
Believe you are confused.Chen2

The X-1 pedals have the best of everything. It's the X-3's that have inferior bearings.
