If anyone has used Sidi road shoes with SPD cleats and pedals, I would greatly appreciate hearing how you liked this combination. Thanks much!

When I bought my first pair of Sidis, my bike then had spd pedals, so I went with spd cleats. The combination worked OK, but I much prefer my current situation (Look pedals and cleats). To use spd cleats on Sidis, you have to have an adapter plate, which I did not like. But, the bottom line comes down to the pedals. I have discovered that I just like the Look pedals better.
You don't need adapter plate w/SPD-SL & G4 carbons or ergos. nmjtferraro

I had that combination a few years back. No mechanical problems but thought the only good SPD road pedals were the Dura-Ace (7401 I think)which had some decent float. Those were discontinued in 1998 when the SPD-R's were introduced, too bad, the SPD D-A's were good pedals and I use them on my commuter. There is an adaptor plate for this combination that has big plastic lugs on either side of the cleat.
I still use the same SIDI Genius shoes with my Speedplay X-1's, after some 12,000 miles I'm beginning to wonder if the SIDI's will ever wear out.
