After much searching I have bought my first tandem. A 2001 Santana Arriva it had been sitting in the back of the LBS for 2 years so I got a great discount plus new warranty.
My wife and I took it out for a short blast on the weekend between rain storms and had a ball. Man can you ever move out on one of those things!!

Thanks to all you guys that gave advise as to what bikes to look at.
Prepare to be drafted!MisJG

We always look for the tandems on Century rides. They are awesome to draft. They are fast and present a large area to break the wind.

Congrats on the Santana tandem but I got you beat by one. We have a Bilenky Tandem and a Santana Triplet. Haven't had three adults on it yet but I ride it with my 6 and 3 year old girls.

Here is the whole family on it except for Girl #3 who was born last Saturday. Can you say Quad?

Here is a picture two years later. In another year or so Girl #3 will go on the rack on the back. This picture is at the beach across from our neighborhood after we rode the 4 miles home from school. My oldest has a longest ride of 40 miles on our tandem. Last week was the 3 year olds first week of stoking.

A tandem can be the best thing or worst thing for you!MShaw

Depending on how you and the SO get along when riding. Good thing: you can't drop them. Bad thing: you can't drop them.

Make sure you get a suspension seatpost and call out bumps. I've been "bumped" in the back of the head after forgetting this one!
