Well, actually I rode only 5 miles, 1200ft elevation gain, 26 minutes : I was helping at the Mt Wilson rest stop at Planet Ultra's Angeles Crest century last saturday. This is a difficult century with 11,000ft of climb. But everybody seemed alive at the top of Wilson.

It sounds like your slow riding days are over -- 11.5 mph average on a five mile, 1200 ft. climb is a pretty good pace, at least by my standards. As always, I enjoyed the pics.

I went pretty much as fast as I could, and know every turn on that climb. No way I could have done that in a century. The japanese guy who was first, just blasted through ! About 5 hours for 80 miles with 10,000ft elevation, this is incredible. Then he stayed a while with us to chat.
