Last Fridays "Tour Day DC" worked out so well we decided to do it again. Of course we didn't want to bore ourselves by doing the same route so this time I told everyone to bring a bike that was going to be comfortable on dirt. I planned to string a bunch of short fun dirt sections together with a bunch of quiet MUTs.

Of course first we had to pick up a little something for the road.

Last week dawned clear and sunny. This week the weather returned to what has been normal for this year. At the start it was damp and grey with a chance of rain later in the day.

Taking my advice Tony rode his ‘crosser, Karen brought her ATB (and hubbie Tom on his ATB), and I was riding my Zaskar.

Miss M knowing the route rode her fixte (some people really know what fun is all about).

It wasn't all that cold but it was dark and grey. Karen wore a lightweight jacket; the rest of us wore vests. After a while the riding warmed us up just fine.

I was finding it hard to take good pix in these light conditions. This is the Capital Crescent Trail shortly after our first dirt section.

After Miss M split for work we cut through an old neighborhood and down some loose single-track to the C&O Canal towpath. After more single-track we stopped here at Little Falls on the Potomac.

We hopped back on the towpath for a few miles and moved right along. It was just bumpy and dark enough to keep me from getting a clear photo.

it's just part of your ongoing anonymity conspiracy!

I lived in DC a few years back (I'm in Chester, UK now) - Thanks for all the great ride reports, they bring back some great memories.

We exited the towpath back into rush hour reality on this spiral ramp. I was getting dizzy.

After a bit more dirt we took the MUT along Macarthur Blvd. It was empty, not so the road. We were all glad we had been riding and not driving. We ended up riding about 10 miles more than last week and my knee is feeling better and better.

And the weekend is coming up!
Nice pics as always, thx !PeterRider
