Galdeano using 650 c wheels? (not spoiler)OffTheBack

In yesterday's stage 9, it looked like Igor Gonzales de Galdeano was riding on 650c wheels. My first guess was that this was a way to get a lower effective gear, but then, the climb wasn't that steep. Any other ideas why he would do this? Ever seen him (or any other top pro) do it before?

I'm pretty sure UCI rules require normal wheels. Years ago some TT bikes would have 650c front wheels to lower the front end. I think when the UCI updated their rules to stop all the funky frame designs, etc. 650 wheels also got the axe.
Rules: Require that both wheels be the same size. nmSpunout

Yes, definitely 650s. The Giant web site talks about this frame. Suposedly same rider position as a 700, not a triathlon frame. Must be a way to shave a couple ounces?
