What really changed? I read the rear der changed with the advent of 10 speed?
My question is will a current/ post 2001 ergo 9 speed lever/shifter work with a 2000 9 rear der? Cam change needed or not?
I understand the opposite would not work, without changing the internal cam.

Thank you in advance.
not properly....C-40

The official answers are at www.campagnolo.com under technical FAQ. Only the new 9 speed ergo levers and derailleur are made to work perfectly with one another. Obviously, if the rachet is different in the newer lever, it's not the same as the one that is intended to work with older derailleur. Some folks use this mismatched combo and claim that it works fine. It's entirely possible that the amount of error is too small to be very noticeable.

People use shimano 9 cassettes on campy drivetrains and claim that it work "perfectly", when it't easy to prove that their is a 5% positioning error on every shift that accumulates to a minimum of 20% after four shifts. I can't imagine that the difference in the early and late campy components is nearly that bad.
