|people in memphis make the drive just to visit gran fondo.
ps. use "nm" behind your subject lines if there's no message in the body. saves people from opening it for no reason.

|Depends on what you're looking for. For "serious" riders and upper-end equipment, I second the Gran Fondo recommendation. These guys are the best in town, without a doubt. I often stop by just to soak in the atmosphere and to drool. Plus it's the one shop that my wife likes to visit - which is saying something!
The Bike Pedlar on West End also has its share of people who know their stuff and I've always had good experiences with their service dept. If you don't find what you need there, there are two other shops within a three minute walk.
We also have our fair share of cater-to-the-masses, one-small-step-above-Wal Mart bike shops. If you need a new water bottle, they can set you up. Otherwise...
Unfortunately, there are also some shops in Nashville that, how should I say it, have less than stellar track records. You may want to avoid these. (Feel free to e-mail me for specifics.)
Come to think of it, we're actually pretty lucky to have such a wide selection in Nashville. I can think of ten shops within a convenient distance just off the top of my head. I think it speaks well of our strong, growing cycling community that we can generate enough business to keep the doors open on that many shops.

|I was surprised, when in nashville last (mid-)november, to find both shops (bike pedlar, gran fondo) offering big sales on pro team jerseys & full kits, and much other stuff. also, both had better-than-online deals on some items at shop regular prices.
...something i've not seen in memphis in the last 5 years.
