Most bizarre bike lane on earth!Fatnslow

I was on a business trip recently and had to drive from Columbus, GA to Statesboro, GA. I took a VERY rural highway (nothing but peach trees and soybeans as far as the eye could see). I shook off the road hypnosis long enough to notice that this road happened to have a bike lane! A rather HUGE bike lane at that. I think I stretched about 70 or 80 miles (though I can't be sure). In all my travels throughout the southeast, I've never seen a bike lane on any state road anywhere. I was shocked to say the least. My only guess was that, since this was farm country, there were probably lots of migrant workers using bikes to get from place to place. Has anyone ridden this lane?
