Frame ding and scratch, repaint or touch up(4 posts)

Frame ding and scratch, repaint or touch upPack Meat

I just picked up a Pinarello Crono that has a scratch and ding on the seat tube. The original paint job is beautiful but I was considering having Spectrum Powder Coat fix the ding and throw on a custom paint job. Does a custom paint job reduce the resale value of a frame? Anybody have any experience with Spectrum? How about suggesting a color scheme.

I would think you will completely destroy the resale value on the Pinarello by having it custom painted. When you try to sell it, most buyers would be very suspicious of the authenticity/condition of the frame.

That being said our team frames are painted by Spectrum. Nice quality powder coating, long wait times. Spectrum paints lots of bike brands, Dean, Anvil, Steelman to name a few.

I'm not doing CCTT next year. I expect you to win it.

I'll have a hard time beating my own teammates, Derek and Ewam.

I was going to go with spectrum, Derek had two of his frames painted by them, they look pretty good.

Prepare to wait for weeks and weeks. I just had my Anvil re-done by them. 3 months. Hummmm.
