I have a road bike with a frame identical to a KHS frame, made by same Asian source and sold to several companies. Rides fine, no snob appeal as you said, but a good bike for the buck.

It's not about the bike...so don't worry about what other people say...ride what you can afford. The Tsunami's at Chuck's bikes are great values...look there.

I have a custom built Reynolds 753 steel bike with a number of years on it. The bike is Record equipped and is a beautiful bike - However --- when I had the bike built it was painted pink and black with no decals at all - less interesting to potential thieves.

It's a great bike but sure doesn't turn any heads - who cares?

If the bike rides well, you enjoy and recognize it as your baby - who cares what anyone else thinks?

If someone wants to spend twice as much to get essentially the same bike - you're the smart one.

I ride a Mercier Serpens, 853 frame, reynolds carbon fork, full ultegra group, ritchey ocr wheels and stem for $1000.

The factory box it came in said Fuji USA on it ( same label as a Fuji bike a friend of mine ordered ). The frame says made in Taiwan as you'd expect since that's where most of the world's frames come from despite the decal that gets applied later.

To sum up: No snob appeal, but a great ride I'm continually pleased with ( I did buy different handlebars and seat from stock though - performance forte classic seat for $30 works for me. )
I ride a KHS Aero Comp.Lon Norder

Taiwanese made Reynolds 853 steel frame. No snob appeal, but the price was right ($1100 with Ultegra components). I really like the ride. They don't make the Aero Comp anymore though. Not sure if they still make an 853 frame, but the Flite 2000 looks nice. I've seen the frames cheap on ebay.

No personal experience with Tomasso or Leader, butbicyclerepairman

IMHO, down through the years KHS has made some very nice bicycles.

Yeah thats why I ask, I see tomasso really cheap and leader on the net, with some nice component group.
