Anyone order the Grabbag socks from LongsCycling? If so, how was the quality and were the socks out of date? Generally, was it a good deal?

thanks,
dd

I've ordered a couple of dozen pairs from Longs. They are DeFeet socks, so the quality is good. Some were from Century Rides from different places that had dates. But other than that, I don't know what you consider "out of date". It's not like they go stale like a loaf of bread. Some of the varieties I still see advertised in Nashbar and Performance catalogs. I have fun seeing what will be in the Grab bag, the "darks" (colored) can be very bright colors that are eye-catching when riding or just walking around with regular shorts on. I get a lot of comments on them.

"Anyone order the Grabbag socks from LongsCycling?"

Yes, 2 3-packs as part of bigger orders.

"If so, how was the quality and were the socks out of date?"

I found quality fine, but some pairs were labeled "irregular/seconds", so you can't assume "first quality". Most (not all) socks had "2000" or "2001" dates sewn in (inside of top part), but the date's not important to me. The logos didn't bear any identifying dates.

"Generally, was it a good deal?"

Yes. Would order again. One thing: the socks have relatively thin padding, so if you like heavy padding it might be better to look elsewhere.

I ordered the grabbag from Longs about a month ago. All of the socks I got were DeFeet. One or two were marked as "seconds" but I couldn't find any defect.

The socks are listed as cycling or running socks, so I got:
2 with the flag of Texas
1 with the flag of Canada
1 with some sort of logo from an unrecognized organized ride
2 with various running marathon things like "26.2" "from hell and back"

Good socks. Done it before, will order again.

Yep, wearing a pair from an order a year or two ago right now. As others have pointed out, these are THIN socks, almost like a mesh, but if that works for you, you're set. Most of the ones I got were black, but I got one very nice set of brown ones (with embroidered MTB art) that go well with my touring shoes...

A+ on Longscycle across the board. I've ordered several jerseys and lots of socks from them with no problems at all. They were great for returns and exchanges as some of the jerseys did not fit properly. They swapped them out with no questions asked.

All the socks I have gotten have been DeFeet or Sock Guy. Essentially the same thin, coolmax socks, although the Sock Guy brand tends to be about 1/2 inch taller, which makes for an uneven tan line. A minor annoyance, at worst.

I got several pair of socks a few weeks ago at target. They have them in three coloros white, black and grey. THey are coolmax ankle sox mage for Target by Gold Toe. I think they were regularly priced at %5.25 but were on sale 15% off a few weeks ago.

Longs is great. They are mostly Defeet and Sock Guy socks. If you do not care what logo you get, they are a good deal.

I got the grab bag of six, dark. Three were bright colors and three were just black and gray. One pair was actually padded, but small. All six has imperfect on the label but I can't find anything wrong with them, except for one pair being smaller then the rest.
I think they are well worth the price.
