I made it to Brest in 38 hours, and back to St. Quentin in 88. It was really tough, but I enjoyed it. I posted a write up:

after I blew up my knees in first 200k, I decided to take it easy. Finished in ~76hr, met a lot of new friends, enjoyed ride (as much as you can w/o grinding teeth), people, Paris, what else? 8-)

Lon:

Great story, photos, and ride, Lon. I have this sneaky suspicion that I saw you at one of the controles (Carhaix, I think). I was in line at the cafeteria, behind a guy in a Davis Bike Club (California Republic) jersey that looked like your photo, and he was with a woman (nice looking blond, I recall). I considered saying something, but then, I don't know your real name, so I forgot about it. Anyway, it might not have been you, after all.

Congratulations, Lon, on your fine ride! Your photos really capture the beauty of the ride.

That might have been me. I saw a guy with a Ride Around Rainier jersey at Fougeres on the way back, but I was stuck in a long line. Also, I saw Ms. Goldenpants at Nogent (wow!), but I was heading out. Your finish time was 5 minutes before mine, so you might have passed me near the end. Quite a ride, eh?
Yes, quite a ride.Dale Brigham

I was wearing USA Cycling Development program red-white-blue jerseys all but the first day (Tuesday), when I wore my club's neon yellow jersey. So, the guy in the RAMROD jersey was not me (although I do have one of those at home).

I passed a lot of folks on the last bit from Nogent back to the "Gym of the Right Man," as I liked to call it. I was ready for it all to be over. Sort of took the fun out of it, especially since I arrived a few minutes before my wife got to the finish. Did the same thing 4 years ago. Need to get my head examined.

Hope your hind end is feeling better than mine.

"gymnasium of the human's right". I wonder if there's a gym for the left side somewhere.
So Dale, where's your ride report?tarwheel
