Castelli Simple jersey fit?(8 posts)

Castelli Simple jersey fit?lemmy999

I ordered a large Simple jersey in a large which according to their website is for 40-42 chest. I am probably a 41 chest. The jersey arrived and it is a fairly snug fit in the torso area (as I knew it would be) but the sleeves are VERY tight. It is uncomfortably tight and just having it on for 3-4 minutes leaves a big red mark that stayed on my arm for a while. My PI jersey sleeves are too tight also, but not this bad (PI are just tight at the elastic). I am 5' 10.5" ~165lbs and I have lifted weights 3 days/week for >10 years so my arms are bigger than the average roadie, but they are not THAT big. Should I just get an XL and have a baggier torso or are all jerseys made for guys with arms the same size as their wrists?
biceps same size as wrists? Yup! Go custom, Popeye! LOL! nmSpunout

A friend of mine has a similar sizing problem, although I'd classify his biceps as larger (more muscular) than average. I don't have that problem ;-)

Anyways, he prefers sleeveless jerseys. He claims that jersey fabric slightly snug over his torso is A LOT cooler wicking away the sweat than a looser jersey that fits his arms.

Why don't you just take out the elastic? Either do it your self or take it to a local alterations shop. Shouldn't cost more than $3-5. I take the elastic out of most of my jersey sleeves for this same reason. I have bigger arms from playing hockey and just getting fat over the years.

Would work for the PI...not for the Castellilemmy999

but the Castelli problem is not just the band, then entire part of the sleeve and even in the shoulder area is all tight. The PI jerseys are just too tight at the elastic. The PI jerseys for a 40-42 chest are baggier in general than the Castelli of the same size.

Most likely because Castelli is a european company. They tend to size one size smaller than we do. You may have to get an XL in Castelli if you normally ride a Large in a Pearl Izumi. Same tends to be true with Santini, Assos, and Giordana as well.

Thanks, I will try that. (nm)lemmy999

I'm about your size. 5'11" and 173lbs

I can't stand to wear the Castelli L.
I found that in the slim style Euro cut jerseys I need the XL to be comfortable.

Is the Assos, even the XL is snug in the arms.

PI cuts much looser.

Every manufacturer has their own style.

Even Colorado Cycles, which now sells an internal brand has different cuts for the same size.

I usually order two and return the one that doesn't fit.

Go figure..
