Polar S510 question/statementJohn445

I purchased this unit about 6 months ago. A little complicated but once familiar with the routine, works great and gives lots of data for analysis. One problem I encountered was stopping to fix a flat or take care of some other mechanical problem. When I returned to riding the system would reset all my ride data to 0. I read the manual 5 times and to the best of my ability my understanding is that when you pause your ride by pressing the stop button you have only 5 minutes to restart or everything resets to 0. I have now read that one of the improvements for the S520 is a 30 minute pause time. This does not sound like an improvement it sounds like a fix for a engineering problem. When paying 200.00 for a name brand product you would think it was designed well, NOT. I have emailed Polar and asked what can be done for my S510, does anyone here have this problem or can recommend a fix. My buddies with the 12.00 computers are laughing at me!!!!

Easy fix, why do you stop for 5 mins to fix a flat, should only take 2-3 mins. And if you keep getting mechanicals get a new mechanic!

But to solve the issue take your 510 off auto start and do it manually, this will ensure that it wont stop untill you want it to......

Wrong answer. It is on manual start/stop. When you are the flat fixer/mechanic for a group of 20 there are times (not many) but there are times that I am away from my monitor for more than 5 minutes.

Whether the unit is on auto or manual if it does not pick up your heartrate for 5 minutes it will reset. I have always used the manual setting on my computers, auto is for the really lazy, forgetful people.

It's a limitation you'll have to live with or upgrade to a Polar S7XX series. Those models have enough memory to keep up to 99 sessions stored. Even when it resets your previous session info will still be available for download and reviewing.

The S510 will also store up to 6 sessions but only the current session retains things like trip dist, avg speed. I think this 5 miunte pause is a defect and should be recalled by Polar.
