Which road bike would you buy if you had $1800 to spend?
I'd spend $2000 and get a Landshark...PdxMark

from - even though it would have Ultegra on it. (Well, OK, I'd probably swap the Ultegra for Campy - but that's me.)

But of course, that is not remotely relevant to what you should do with $1800. Your style, needs, and taste could be very different from mine.

even if I had to use shimano 105 to meet the $1800. But a 67 cm frame would fit me best, so I wouldn't buy a stock bike with a forced fit for that price.

Obviously it depends on your riding.
For less than the $1800 you have, on ebay you can buy a used high end early 2000 year bike (with minimal mileage) with great components. Just make sure the seller has a history of selling bikes on ebay and has an excellent record.

I wanted to upgrade from my 105 component Epic and was able to get a 1999 R4000 Cannondale (with 300mi.) with full Dura Ace for less than half its original price.
