|Just got new wheelset from CC and they have that darn ticking noise. (Open Pro CD 14g 32f 36r on Ultegra)Is that a manufacturer defect of are they put together poorly? I thought CC was one of the better places for wheels. Should I just return them as I read it drives most people nuts? Would I be better off having them put together a similar system maybe on a velocity rim or the CXP-33?|

|I built several set of OP CD/non CD and have never heard of any funny noise from them when riding. I would return them.|

|I have had (2) sets of these wheels, both having that tick noise. A drop of white lightning at the nipple/rim juction and no more ticking.|
|Seriously consider returning them...||biknben|

|Yes, the ticking noise seems very common but I never seem to get a straight answer. Some say that it is due to excessive weld at the seam that breaks off and then rattles around. I've heard that one a few times and it makes sense. I've heard that a drop of crazy glue near the point of the noise will glue that piece of weld in place, then no more noise. OTOH, why doesn't that broken piece just fall out of one of the spoke holes in the rim.
There are other possibilities like a creaking eyelet or something. That could be cured with a drop of lube like someone else mentioned.
If you don't figure it out soon, just return them for another set. Maybe rebuild with a different rim if you are annoyed.
