Steel or Aluminum Frame?NeophyteRoadie

I just posted regarding the Tommaso Sicilian, but I am wanting to know the opinion of people with experience. My weight varies each year from 225-250 lbs, this is my first road bike purchase and I am leaning toward steel. If some of you can let me know which frame would support me better and bikes to look at I would appreciate it. I think I am going to lean towards Lemond for a steel frame and who knows for aluminum. Thanks for your help.

I was heavy when I came back to the sport 5 years ago. I was around 235-240 (now 190/195). My ride was a Klein Quantum Race, which I still have as my second bike. My main ride is a Colnago Master X-Light and between the two of them it would be a tough call if they were both equipped with the same component group. You have a lot of options but make sure what ever you go with fits. Have a professional fitting done by all means, it's worth it in the long run.

Just avoid the ultra light al and steel frames and you will be fine.

Your main concern at your weight will be your wheel set and tire selection.
