Baggy? Lycra??!! AHHHHCLASH
Aug 19, 2003 3:49 PM
I just got my first Road bike.. I have been Mountain BIking for 3 years. I have always wore baggy shorts but now with a Road Bike they open up like a parachute. So I am asking you guys should I go Lycra??

And if i do i will just get Lycra shorts and wear a regular shirt. I don't think that will be to bad.

What do you guys think??
Get the right gear and you'll enjoy it moret0adman

Get roadie lycra shorts or bibs, and a tight(er) fitting jersey. You'll be glad you did.

You should get it anyway, even if you're going to wear shorts over it, because it will make your @ss more comfortable on the seat. Jerseys are okay, it's the shorts which are a bit more fruity...see probikekit.com

Go with the lycra shorts and a real jersey. You'll be much more comfortable. The shorts won't balloon out and slow you down and the jersey will whick away persperation. Having the right equipment always makes a huge difference (kind of like the shivering people I seeing skiing in cold, wet jeans). I wear baggies on the mtb, but when I bought the road bike this summer, I immediately bought the lycra shorts.

As for the goofball in the pink speedsuit, you won't look like that unless you're a goofball and actually purchase something like that.
But that's pretty fantastic....t0adman

Just kidding. Get normal black shorts and a jersey and you'll look nothing like that. Try it with and without and your mind will be made up for you.

Sign up for their Velowear e-list and get special monthly discounts. I have several Voler shorts, bibs, and knickers, and the quality and fit are excellent.
