|Ditch the aero bars!
Get some real bars and brake levers.
Then put the shifters in the handlebars ends!
Then you have a road bike.
BTW 105 is like Deore LX.

|Looks like a CAAD3 or earlier Cannondale roadbike set up for triathalon use. Sounds like a good price. They have a rep for having a harsh ride but are very well made. I agree with The Bull about changing the bars(like in the picture). You will be more comfortable and have better control. You should be able to E-bay the aero bar set up. Keep posting Questions here. I too came from mountain biking and found this board incredibly helpful.
By the way:
Dura-Ace = XTR
Ultegra = XT
105 = LX

|... notice the cantilever rear stays... this occured before the introduction of the CAAD series...
Agreed, it'll be super stiff... but that's the way they built 'em back then... and for certain applications, it's a plus.
True, unless you're planning on TT's or Tri's... you might be better served with standard road drops.
Be the bike.

|In fact, I'm gonna guess that it's a 93 or 94 R700 tri. I had a 95--the only differences were the paint, a threadless headset and an Ultegra 600 rear de.
Like Akira said, it's a stiff rocket bike that has a light frame. The seat tube geo is right around 75 degrees, something of an in-between from the QRoo standard of the day (78) to a strait road frame. Given your background, that might feel a little odd at first.

|Bar end shifters and brakes won't be much use with drop bars... you'll need new shifters/brakes|

That is cannondale's number? I live in SoCal and there used to be a shop called Bike USA. That is where the guy that owned the bike before me bought the bike. But BIke USA has been gone for likr 5 years.

|Nope. Bike USA just sold out to Performance 1-2 years ago. BikesUSA in VA sold out 4-5 years ago.
Even worse, Perf. bought Supergo, and now they're ruining it too!
