|It's very strange, but those incredibly annoying popups for the "Grind" movie didn't seem to be very effective. The skateboard comedy adventure opened this weekend at 2,253 sites, taking in $2.6 million. That's $1,161 per screen average. At an average $8 a ticket, only 145 people saw it at each screen over the weekend. If there were 10 showings on each screen over the weekend, that's about 15 people watching for each showing.
And people say popup ads aren't effective.

|It's hard to tell how effective the pop-ups were. Maybe without the ad, there would only have been six people watching each show. Here's the probable demographic breakdown.
One person to drive and pay,
one buddie to sneak in the weed,
one kid brother (mom made them bring him),
one skanky girlfriend,
spankdoggie(unable to follow the plot),
and one person who read the title and thought it was a porno film.
