Well after 10+ years of MTN Biking I have taken the plunge and purchased a road bike so I can ride more than my current 2 times a week.

I wanted to know does one wear underwear along with the cycling shorts or not? I did my first ride today and got a little chaffing and I was not sure if I caused this by wearing underwear.

Thanks

ps Do you get used to the big trucks flying past you as you ride along???

1) go commando.

2) you learn to make the trucks your friend and grab some air off them as they go by.

underwear=chaffing, so yes, go commando :O) In time, you'll find less travelled routes to avoid the trucks.

Something I figured out and have been trying to pass on to as many cyclists as will listen are these maps called "recreational trails and bicycle route guide" Most people just use them to find the MUTs and any seasoned roadie would dismiss them due to the title. I find that if you ignore the MUTs and concentrate on their suggested road routes they are an indespensible resource. They can guide you across an entire city using only residential and low traffic routes.
