Thanks to Upandcomer, here's a picture of the crowning moment from the TdF 2003 for my CSI.

90 degrees and sunny at the bottom, 40 and cold at the top. But the steel steed made it and dragged its owner, who paid sartorial homage to his RBR namesake, to the summit.

Thanks to all on this board whose inspiration made it possible!

Sounds like you climbed Ventoux the same day I did. During the Tour rest day. That was an awesome ride. It just kept getting colder and colder and windier and windier. I was just blown through the final turn up to the top. Thats a day I will not soon forget.
