|I'm curious to know whether you stretch during long rides on your bike, and if yes, what do you stretch and how?
I find that over longer distances, if I stretch myself regularly after every 30mins or so, I avoid pain in mainly my lower back and shoulders. Even if I straighten out my legs I can almost feel the lactic acid going away. However, if I don't stretch the pain may come much sooner.
What are the benefits to doing this?
Do the pros do it?

|Especially on our tandem where we're out of the saddle less.
I'll stand up periodically and drop my heels for a nice foot/calf stretch. When I stop I'll sometimes pull my foot up behind my back to stretch the fronts of my thighs as well as my lower back. Also a lean against a wall to stretch the achilles on each calf.
I will periodically rotate my head to loosen up my neck also.

|I often stretch my hamstrings and quads, and sometimes calves and lower back. I don't have any regular mid-ride stretching schedule, but just do it when I stop and get off the bike if I remember to or feel like I need it.|| |
