The only difference I can see is the carbon stay and approx. $300. Does anyone know if this is the case or if there are any other differences? How does the carbon seat stay affect the ride? Thanks.

On a steel frame, I do not think carbon stays will make much difference. A well made steel frame has a subtle ride that does not need the claimed damping of the carbon stays. In fact I don't think they do that much on Al or Ti, except on the Serotta Ti models because of the pivot that they use at the drop out. I would go with the C3 and take the $300 and put it toward a good set of wheels wich will affect the ride of the bike more than a carbon stay will. Also check out the messege board at Serotta.com
