|somebody called them hot spots, but what is the proper term? and what can be done about them? after about 60km they start and get really bad, to the point it's murder to pedal! this is happening on the ball of my left foot. anyone have a similar problem?|

|Try experimenting with different inserts, and combinations of inserts. Try differnt cleat positions. If that doesn't work try different pedals.|

|he said I have a stress fracture on the ball of my foot.There is a bone that is right under the ball of the foot which very much resembles a kneecap , and a lot of people break these bones through everyday activities but unless you aggravate them (ie running or cycling ) you will never know they are broken.
I am going back in to have some orthotics made but I just did a century last week and wore 2 pair of socks and they actually felt ok.My foot used to kill me at the 2 hour mark exactly, and I know how you feel.Go to the dr and have him do an xray.

|I was getting pain in the same area on the same foot. I have SIDI G 4 shoes. It seems the insole was way too thin, like paper at the ball of the foot. I got rid of it & put in a little thicker one & the pain has gone away.|

|falling down a set of stairs (actuallly the stairs were under construction and not yet attached so they fell out from under me, but thats another story) and hurt the ball/big joint of one of my feet. running aggravates it and I found that long rides would too. I have since moved my cleats a bit further back on my shoes and have found that that helped out quite a bit.
