|Riding home last night and hit another cyclist on the Bridge||onespeed|

|I was coming around one of the stone towers of the Brooklyn Bridge when another cyclist comes around the respective side. I have been in the situation many times and it is always just a move to the side for each cyclist and you can squeeze by each other while still moving. The only trick is YOU HAVE TO BE LOOKING STRAIGHT AHEAD TO REACT!!!!!
This idiot was looking straight down at his bottom bracket while pedaling blindly ahead. I pulled my brake and slwed down and all would have been fine IF HE HAD STOPPED PEDALING!!!!
I start yelling to get him to look up, but it is too late. Next thing I know he runs straight into me and mashed my thumb between our handlebars. I was so pissed. The skin is gone from my knuckle and it hurts so much I am wondering if it is broken.
The blood starts dripping and I can hear him saying "Sorry man." I yell at him to keep his head up cant find any reason to remain there any longer, so I ride out. I probably would have strangled him. The blood drips all the way home. It hurts like a b*tch today. I am going to get it checked out.

|That bridge is so dangerous! Though it's usually the pedestrians/tourists that are the real health hazard. Too bad they can't expand that path.
FYI-Although cyclists tend to be more heads up than most, anyone visiting NY and walking over the Brooklyn Bridge- PLEASE WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING!
Hope that hand gets better!

|A number of years ago, one week before going on vacation to England, I was riding across it. Came up behind a guy who was riding a real junker with bags of his possessions hanging from the handlebars. Called out, "On your left." So, I get even with him and he turns right into me. Somehow my front wheel got caught, so I was flipped over the bars. I rolled, but not before fracturing my left arm (later X-rays found). Of course, the other guy stayed upright and kept right on going. I was so furious, but what can you do?
Now, I go real SLOW when I go over that bridge. And pray to a God I don't believe in when overtaking anyone who going slow enough that I am actually able to pass them.
