How'd you get it. Did your knee look swollen? How'd you rehab it? how long?

I had that years ago and it was unrelated to cycling. One knee was affected, it was caused by kneeling at work (I work in the building trades.) My knee was quite sore and swollen around the kneecap, the doctor called it "washerwoman's knee" and told me to take ibuprofin and use some ice. It cleared up rather quickly with the whole episode lasting only a week or 2 at most. My cycling was unaffected although if I recall I waited for the swelling to go down before I started riding. Oh, and I also got some good kneepads and have not had a recurrance.

I had it from ultimate frisbee a couple years ago. I didn't play for a couple weeks, iced it nightly and took Naprocin (sp?) for it. I could ride, but any out of saddle pedaling was painful, so I just stayed on the stationary bike in the gym. After that, it might flare up from time to time, but if you ice it, and take anti-inflammatory stuff for a couple days, it'll go away. That's my experience with it. Good luck.

Raise it, ice it, compress it, and something else.
ibuprofen for the swelling. ice it immediately following riding or exercise, don't push such a big gear. It will recover. sometimes it takes longer for some than others. DON'T rush it though.
