You know, we are hearing rumours of when the postal team might call it quits. So I have a request. There is a company out there that I think would be perfect to sponsor a professional cycling team. That company is Hooters. You think you see a lot of postal jerseys, just wait until Hooters sponsors a team. Of course the shorts would be orange. The team could bring their own Podium girls, forget about the French. Let's get some Hooter girls on the podium. They would travel in style, because Hooters now has their own airline. It would be a fun team in the peloton that is for sure.
How about this team...wspokes

I am still waiting for pfizer to get the Viagra team UP and running strong!
Hell, there's enough money in pharmaceuticals, they could sponsor a team without any problems at all.

I am sure the French have a real need for that too, although they would be the last to admit it.

I work for them. We have Zyrtec sponsoring a racing team in NYC and they do pretty well. Nothing big time professional, but I'd like to get started with a true effort here. Our local club is sponsored from our Sports and Recreation benefit budget; small stuff, but we have fun.

I (and others)have been trying to get the attention of marketing and explain to them about popularity in Eurpoe, amount of $$$ spent on the NASCAR circuit and how much cheaper and similar scope cycling is.

So, anyone have a template or advice where and how to start this? I have a connection, just not enough info.

It probably starts in their PR and advertising departments. I would write up a short and long term plan to see if you can generate some interest and go from there.

Get on the intranet and type "bikeclub" in your location bar. You'll find our club there. Get my email from the site and we'll talk. I have a small, but determined network of folks trying to pick the right ear to gain attention for the idea.

Problem is: We all know it's a cool idea, just how do you come up with a business plan for this? What is the cost, How do you start, etc.

Hey there,
The search returns clubs in NJ and Groton and mentions Ann Arbor. Which one are you at?
How about you search for Busey on the email search part of the intranet, and send me an email. Sorry about that, but I know both of us are just being carefull about spam, etc.
Which team?CritLover

Haven't noticed them. Not to say the sponsorship isn't working, it's just that I don't always notice unless the women are wearing it too.

in Texas for years. I traded for a jersey at track nationals a few years back, one of my favorites.

Do you have a picture of the jersey? Wouldn't it be cool if they sponsored a Tour team?
I'll take a picture tonight....bestT

I would like to be the marketing guy for Armstrong Flooring. My first question for the current jobholder: "How the hell did you let Barry Floors, a competitor, co-sponsor the Postal team?!?"

Damn, these guys would be a natural team sponsor, don't you think?

And wasn't there an old pro racer decades ago who raced for a company team that just so happened to share his last name? I'm drawing a blank here...

Pizza Hut is a good company to work for. I have worked there since I graduated from highschool in 1990. I have made a ton of pizzas in 13 years. I never get sick of Pizza either. I should see if Pizza Hut would sponsor a cycling team. I am in management now, so I just do reports, run to the bank, make schedules, place orders, see the bills get taken care of. It really is an easy job that pays decent since I am not college educated. I met my wife Gayle at Pizza Hut. She was a regular there while she was going to college. I knew the moment I laid eyes on her that she was something special. She never paid for a pizza as long as I was working there. She works for a bank by the way.

By the way, you get a free DVD with the purchase of a large Pizza at Pizza Hut right now. This is a really good deal.

I guess the leg warmers might count and be that weird looking color they wear. What is up with those things anyway? Why do they were them?
