I'm sitting here right now ice bag on my right shoulder, a sore left cheek (The lower one) and a dinged up front end on my road bike.
It could have been much worse as I've just earned another "Saved by The Bell" certificate.
This was a really scary crash this morning. I was taking a right hand turn when my front tire went flat. I was pitched down right into an 8" steel pipe bollard filled with concrete
If it hadn't been for my helmet I'm sure I'd be in the head trauma unit right now. I slammed that thing pretty hard. Now I've got to see what kind of damage I've done to my bike.
saved me a few times, too; heal fast. nmDougSloan

I've crashed too many times to count, but I've only broken one helmet. Cracked the sucker right down the middle. I got a small red sore spot on my forehead from the impact, and that was it. I hate to think what would have happened to my head without that helmet.

Yep, and I never wave to idiots out on the roads, it's a waste of my time. Call me a stuck up roadie elitist or whatever, when it come to helmets, those with brains know enough to protect their brains.

I cannot even believe someone with a brain wrote that.
Perhaps you have that thing buckled too tight?

I'm self-righteous. I admit it. People who don't wear helmets are idiots. Why must I waste my time?
