Got Passed at End Of Ride by a Trash Talking MoronBaadDawg

So I'm finishing up a 70K ride today and I'm cruising along and I pass some yo yo on a noisy crappy looking hybrid and turn a few corners and next thing I know (I wasn't paying any attention at all to what was behind me because it was a deserted road) I hear all this clanking and next thing I know the yo yo whom I had passed has (to my complete surprise, I hadn't given him a 2nd thought) pulls up on my left and passes me then yells at me how he was able to pass me on his crappy hybrid and here I am on my fancy racing bike and that he's 50 years old to boot (I'm older than him but that's not the point). Then he pulls over to a donut shop about 30 yards after he passed me.

First of all there is no way in hell I was racing him or even aware that he was racing me, I did not attempt to catch him and teach him a lesson (beneath me) but his attitude pissed me off lol.

The guy looked like he had just been released from jail, had rotting teeth, a real crappy bike and got a kick out of trashing me. He was wearing long pants, a backpack, no helmet, sneakers.

Takes all kinds, most people on bikes I wave to or converse about what a nice day etc.

This yo yo trashed me.
Somehow, you'll get through this :) (nm)Kerry Irons

I know you say you posted it "just because" but your use of the terms "trashing talking moron" make it clear to me that he torqued you off. Why?

minus the trash talking. i was on mile 80 of an 88 mile ride and he comes flying past me after i had already passed him. mofo is competitive that's for sure. that's not the first time i've seen him get really competitive on areas most riders are just spinning on. he's a really nice go though, so i didn't even hold it against him that he was wearing his poseur USPS jersey. (of course, it was personally given to him by LA).
He's a former pro domestique...filtersweep

...and he's a bit bitter.

Not only were his "retirement benefits" the pits, but nobody can remember his name.

He turned to booze and painkillers after he lost his "racing form" and it has been downhill ever sense.

He's just reliving his glory years. Give him his due!

I think the guy is Greg LeMond. For some reason, every year at this time for the past five years, the poor guy gets terribly depressed. This year was the worst.

not giving a crap, tends to get me through such traumatic events.

OK, sorry, yeah, sometimes harsh comments strike a negative chord even when they come from strangers--even when they come from conspicuously full-of-it idiot jerk strangers. There are such folks in the world. That's how it is. In the end, they don't matter.
get over yourself...i'm glad he passed you (nm)ColnagoFE

WE all want to challenge ourselves sometimes... he was just doing the same... yeah he was rude and rough around the edges/ buried anger over who knows what. I find it's always easier to deal with people if I don't automatically assume the same value system and do my best to consider "where they're coming from..." - personally I MIGHT have said( depending on my mood...) ok, let's have some fun and just accelerate away - but probably not with this guy... angry people are - well - angry. Best to let angry sleeping dogs lie.

...of his week/month to "blow by this road bike-riding guy on my crappy bike."

I get that all the time on the 101 here in San Diego. Just remember: its really easy to win a one horse race.

Remind me to tell y'all about my friend Ray that likes to "race" people up and down the coast.

Good thing my scum buddy didn't see me fall over today at a light when my cleat locked in as I was stepping down to touch the road. I was out of the pedal but half in, in case there was a safe gap to cross and when I realized I should stop I somehow clicked in as I was stepping down. No speed at all just a sideways tip over onto the curb.

If my buddy had seen that he would have felt like a million bucks
