Any good rides around Colorado Springs?fujipro

I'm heading to Colorado Springs in a week and taking along my road bike. I'm interested in hearing about any good mountain passes or trails that would be neat to hit while I'm there. Mt. Evans is not an option as I don't have a 30x28 gear!!

I'm in Denver, so I only ride down there a few times a year. Others will do better, but there are some wonderful road rides from the north end of the Air Force Academy into the Black Forest, Palmer Lake, Monument, and even up to Larkspur. Those aren't mountain passes, but you'll feel your climbing legs.

Hwy 83 north?jtolleson

I am not the best source since I'm not a total local, but Hwy 83 goes to many nice roads north of C Springs and south of Castle Rock. It has a good shoulder but is heavier traffic than I prefer, but I'm thinking a feasible route into the Black Forest area, from which you can ride to Palmer Lake or Monument.
