|I was wondering if there is anyone out there that is planning a nice social ride in the Northern Va area this weekend. I just bought a Cross bike and I'm tired of riding the same streets.
Let me know

|We've got a small-ish group (usually about 6-8 guys, smaller with vacations) that ride out of Ft. Hunt Park near Mt. Vernon on Sunday morning.
There are some nice roads near Lorton that take you into Occoquon and Clifton. Ox Road (nasty and dangerous) to Hampton (pretty - runs by Fountainhead Park) to Wolf Run Shoals and, eventually, Clifton Road.

|call a "nice social ride," but it depends on the rider, I suppose, there are lots, and I can run them down for you. What I think you really want, however, can be found in the Potomac Pedalers. Go to their website, and join to get their flyer and support them. They are the most active non-racing group, with rides all over the D.C. Metropolitan area of all different abilities.
Greg's group, btw, is a great group, but you need to understand that they are fast for recreational riders (with the occasional race under the belts of one or another of them), and that there are no chi . . . um, women of the female persuasion. Just hairy-legged, spitting, cussing, vile lardbutts.
