Monday- Leave work at 5:00pm drive to hockey rink. Ride for 2 hrs while kid #2 has practice- approx 30-35 miles
Tuesday- Leave work at 5:00pm drive to hockey rink. Ride for 2 hours while kid #1 has practice- approx 30-35 miles
Wed- evening group ride with LBS- 20-25 miles
Thur- ride early AM or lunch time because of evening hockey games- 15-18 miles
Friday- rest day
Saturday- Leave the house at 6:15am for 3 hour ride: around 50 miles. Once a month a 100k or 100mile charity ride
Sunday- Leave the house at 8:00am(my 1 day to sleep in) for 2-3 hour ride: around 40 miles.
I average close to 200 miles week.

|this year i've had from 47-mile weeks to ~500-mile weeks. with family, work, vacation, and other obligations, my "training plan" is typically pretty hodge-podge.
rest days: i like to take one day off per week, provided there are no special events planned or recently ridden. otherwise, i might take 2-3 days off after a long ride (brevet, etc), or taper a little before a long ride. recently i've also been running and working a little in the gym.
sure, more info than you wanted, but it's al relevant. "typical" cycling week:
mon ride short, run base miles, or off (bike = 15-20 miles)
tue ride or run, tempo (bike = 20-30 miles)
wed ride easy, 15-30 miles
thu fast group ride, 35-60 miles
fri ride short, run base miles, or off (bike = 15-20 miles)
sat long weekly ride, 60-125 miles, or 100-??? mile event
sun group ride, hills or sprints, 30-40 miles
this will change pretty soon to include more running and gym work and less riding, as the running legs return.

Tues: 70-80 miles or 3.5-4.5 hrs road
Wed: Mt Bike single track 2 hrs AM 2 hr Road PM
Thur: 80-90 miles 4.5 - 6 hrs Road or alternate fast group ride instead PM
Fri: Rest day
Sat: 75-90 miles or 4.5-6.5 hrs
Sun: easy 2 hr pm ride.
alternate some less miles for climbing rides.
If I was working no way could I do this so this is atypical but I'm enjoying it very much not a penny to my name but hey I will take the bike and riding racing anyday.

Mon 30-40 miles after work, solo.
Tue Alternate sporting activity
Wed Officiate at kids swim meet
thu Alternate sporting activity
Fri Swim team pep rally
Sat Officiate at kids swim meet (am). Possibly ride solo in afternoon 30-40 miles or 10 miles with kids.
Sun If I didnt ride Sat, ride Sun morning 30-40 miles.
Average 60 miles per week with the occaisional 100 mile week.
August: Well, swim team is over but figure skating still has one more competition (Hershey Open). After that, vacations and plenty of time riding with the kids.

Friday: Longer ride, 40-60
Saturday: Recovery ride, 30 miles OR running
Sunday: Long ride, about 60
week total = 180 to 200

|Monday- 20-30 mile ride @ 5 PM. Sometimes interrupted by other things that have to be done.
Tuesday- 25-35 mile ride @ 5pm. Sometimes interrupted by other things that have to be done.
Wednesday- Rest day. Sometimes interrupted by a ride that was missed earlier in the week because of things that had to be done.
Thursday- Group ride. 'Tho in June and July I sometimes do Group ride, then ride over to the next town to the farmers market to get fresh produce.
Friday- Slow, short ride to the beer store. Slow, longer ride on the return.
Saturday- Group ride, or solo. Usually about 2.5 hrs.
Sunday- 3-5 hr hill climbing route. Solo or with riding buds.
I average 150-200 miles/week

Mon-Fri 5:30am 20 mile loop, then back to house to rouse child from slumber and get to school/daycare/camp (whatever's on the block that week).
Saturday early AM start for a 45 - 80 mile run out of the driveway. Back to the house and my late rising family is just beginning their day.
Sunday - same as Saturday.
Poor weather stops me better than 80% of the time.
M-F Ride Rollers 6:00am to 6:45am (or till I can't take anymore)
Sat & Sunday - sleep in and ignore the bike.

|I try to sneak in as much time as possible:
Sunday: Up at 6am for 75-90 miler. Usually alone, but I am organizing a group to join me
Monday: occasionally get up early to grab 20+ recovery miles
Tuesday: off or in the gym for light weight workout
Wednesday: 6am 30-40 miler alone
Thursday: off or maybe in the gym
Friday: I sneak out of work almost every afternoon and do 50 miles
Saturday: Usually off...but sometimes I do an hour of hills or TT's while my wife is at the gym
Average weekly miles: 140-175 Biggest week: 490 miles
My wife just doesn't understand why me or anyone else "needs" to workout/ride/exercise more than three days per week. It's been a constant, low grade, battle for years now. But generally, she is very supportive and understanding of my addiction. As my kids get older and more self-sufficient, its' allowed me more riding time. Baring another major mechanical (frame crack) or a major mechanical of my body, I should have record mileage this year. Heck, its' the end of July and I'm within 800 miles now.

Monday: forget it; work late, wife pregnant and tired, play with 1 year old
Tuesday: 10% chance of convincing wife to let me go mountain bike ride for 1 hour; if not, ride 2-5 miles with 1 year old and possibly wife on tandem
Wednesday: same story as Monday
Thursday: about the same as Tuesday, but chances increase to 50% if no riding so far this week.
Friday: no way; time to be home or go out to eat
Saturday: 30% chance of 2 hour mountain bike ride; 5% chance of 40-65 mile road ride; 1% chance of 155 mile Climb to Kaiser
Sunday: if rode on Saturday, 1 % chance of short ride; if no riding on Saturday, 50% chance of 2 hour trail ride or 2-4 hour road ride
Repeat for foreseeable future, except when in trial. Then, chance of any riding about 5% per week.

|She wants the house quiet; I can do that. Certainly can't mow the lawn during nap time. Her favorite is when I take the dog mountain biking with me for 2 1/2 hrs. Fine with me!|

|I usually get off work at 4 and go for 1-2 hours ride (~ 20-35 miles). If I do not feel like riding that day, I just skip and go for a swim then go home to help my wife with house stuff. Saturday and Sunday are sleepin days and I will go for long ride 40+ miles at the end of the days. I average about 150 miles per week. Same set up for winter but I stay home for rest day instead of going swimming.|

500-700 mile months is my goal for May-September, 300-400 during the standard time months. 6000 per year is the outside number yearly.

Every Monday I teach spin and hit the gym. Sometimes 2 hours on spin bike
Tuesday - 1 hour warmup then drills or FAST crit practice, 2 to 2.5 hours
Wednesday - 2 hour typically under 158, sometimes easier
Thursday - sometimes drills (vary), sometimes easy and spin, sometimes moderately fast crit practice
Friday - 1 hour recovery, sometimes additional hour moderate
Sat. - ride to spin, teach spin, ride home, hill work 3 to 4 hours
Sun - race day
Avg mileage per week for entire year is around 100. Coach says quality over quantity

Saturday -- Fairly fast group ride, 50-60+ miles, leaving 8-9 a.m.
Sunday -- Moderate pace group ride, 40-50 miles, leaving 8-9 a.m.
I typically ride 150-200 miles a week, year-round. Don't ride in the rain unless caught in it, which has happened a lot this year. I do a lot of metric-length rides, but usually only 1-2 centuries a year. Once a year, I usually take a week-long cycling trip (400+ miles) with my brother and/or friends.

|This is my normal schedule, unfortunately it has been sidelined since I got some lingering virus that I can't seem to shake.
tues- local crit or fast group ride 30-40miles
weds- 15-25 easy miles (depending on punishment received on Tuesday)
thurs- 2-3 hrs- either intervals, hill repeats, or sprints
fri- 15 miles recovery
sat- race (btwn 40 and 65 miles total)
sun -race or long group ride - 50-70 miles

|Monday-Friday: 20-25 miles early am on the road during summer, 30-60 minutes on trainer the rest of the year, as many days a week as I can get out of bed early. Sometimes I can tell I need sleep more than I need the saddle time, though. With 2 kids in Scouts, music, karate, school activities, etc, afternoon & evening rides are rare, but occasionally I get a 20-30 mile tandem ride with my wife or a group ride after work.
Saturday: 40-80 mile road ride most weekends, usually with a few friends but sometimes alone. Often I'll be back before everyone else has dressed & has breakfast.
Sunday: Lunch ride to McDonalds, Taco Bell, pizza, etc. after church with my family.
I've mostly given up on mountain bikes. I do nearly all road rides from my driveway, but after I load the car and drive somewhere to ride the mountain bike, it adds 30-90 minutes to each end of a ride & to me that's too much time wasted.

no real 'training' routine.
in any given week i might ride:
every other friday - 2hr. mtb ride
sat or sun. - sometimes both ~20 mi. road ride with wife
M-F - ~10-15mi RT commute 1-3x/wk and 1-3 20mi road rides w/wife, sometimes on same day as commute rides.
so in a good week i might get somewhere close 100 miles.
the rides w/wife are usually not too hard(i.e. mostly flat) since i'm trying to get her into biking. i figure the investment now will payoff in the long run.

All of these Sunday to Saturday schedules make riding sound as if it's supposed to be a job. Screw that.
I ride when the mood strikes and when it's fun, which is pretty dang often. When it's neither, I don't.
[rant]Hill rides, training rides, recovery rides.....what's ASCII code for barf? I've done that and it took all the fun out of it.
Many of these people (not all) are the ones who can't be bothered to say hello or even acknowledge a fellow rider. You look like it's such serious business. If you make your living at it, then it is. Otherwise, get over yourselves. We're all grown men riding bikes in tights, which is downright humorous, no matter what anyone says. [/rant]

4.5 + 27 + 20 + 7 = 58.5
30 + 17.5 + 3.5 + 121 + 85 = 257
25 + 16 = 41
40 + 4 + 22 + 75 + 55 = 196
I try to ride as often as possible. The chart above is my last five weeks of riding. Like many of us, I wish I had more time to ride. The sun won't last for long so I'm trying to get the miles/time in the saddle up!

Tue: racing at the San Diego Velodrome. (That's tonite!)
Wed: LSD. 2.5-3 hours slow and steady
Thurs: Fiesta Is/track practice. Fiesta Island is a 10lap "race" around Fiesta Is. with 100+ of my closest friends. Its billed as a crit practice, but its effectively intervals as the local hammers try and break everyone's legs.
Fri: 1-2 hours EASY! After Tue/Thurs, I'm pretty well cooked. Sometimes I even take off.
Sat: 2.5+ hours easy to moderate. Ride down and meet the SDBC ride in La Costa, go down the coast with them, then back home one way or another.
Sun: track or racing or LSD. Depends on the week, what's going on, etc.
I hit the "screw it" zone in June and still haven't quite gotten back up to speed so I've written off the rest of the summer to try my hand at cross racing this "winter." I started running on the days that I can (Wed/Fri) in preparation for run-ups. Running: it is fun in a masochistic kinda way...

Wake at 4:30 down coffee do stretching crunches etc.
Shave & on bike by 5:30 to 5:45
Ride 40 minutes get home eat oatmeal jump in shower & drive 30 miles to work get there by 8am if I stop for non fat Latte.
Saturday ride with buddy at 8am usually 3.5 to 4.5 hours
with at least 4-5000' climbing
Sunday no rides take wife & daughter to breakfast hang out then go home & do yard work & take daughter to park in afternoon.
This feels right to me now. I sue to ride a lot more but it felt like I was never around........
Now I do 5000 miles a year with 300,000' of climbing & that is fine ;-)
