Will a 126mm dropout carry a modern 9 or 10 speed hub?

What is standard these days?

Besides Surly, Rivendell is making some frames w/132.5 spacing, and I just bought a set of cheap wheels from Nashbar, for my daughter's bike, that are 132.5. That means you only have to spread/compress each side a little over a millimeter no matter what, and that's nothing.
depends on frame materialDave Hickey

Standard road width is 130mm. If it's steel, it's usually no problem to spread the dropouts 4mm. Aluminum can be harder unless it's an older small diameter frame like a Vitus.
