|My new TCR 100 special edition!||BergMann|

|Well actually, this one belongs to one of the Once guys, but I just won one of these limited edition TCR 100s as the grand prize when my Cyclingnews.com fantasy team "GonePostal" came in first!
Victory is sweet!
PS - note the 1300g Campy Bora G3 wheels! Anyone need a set of these for a reasonable price? Make me an offer, I'm a clincher guy!

Here's the image:
I've also found a link to the Giant site's page on the bike:

|according to that Giant website, the bike features a "19 Speed Campagnolo Record group set". So, I guess that means with the double ring you've got 38 gear selections, or 57 with a triple. You'd think with that huge cog spread available at their finger tips the entire ONCE team would have done a much better job on the mountain stages.|

|Giant bikes have come a long way over the last decade or so, but the web site is pretty sorry. Some poor, clueless intern probably had to bang that page out in between fetching cups of coffee at Giant corporate.|

|Wow...congrats! Great bike! I think you have one of the more amazing bikes made today. You should love it.
As for the wheels, I am a tubular guy and would love the chance to buy them from you. I have been wanting to upgrade my wheels for a while but didn't want to spend huge dollars. Maybe this could be the ticket. Feel free to email me if you are really interested in selling them.

|Seriously, those things are pretty much one of a kind as far as us non-ONCE riders are concerned. They will be worth a small fortune!
And if you feel bad for forcing someone to pay so much, remember that it's worth it to them. You can always donate part of the proceeds to a local youth cycling program.
|Roger that! Wanted 2 give the RbR posse first shot @ the Boras||BergMann|

|(Disclaimer: Apologies in advance for the pecuniary tenor of the following. Since folks have broached the subject of why/how this RBR member intends to sell these wheels, I thought I'd fill everyone in on the details.
Should you find such matters distasteful, please don't read any further.)
A pair just sold on Ebay for $2200. If I sell mine there for that much, I'll be looking at just over $100 in Ebay/Paypal fees. If there's someone on the board that wants a brand new set of Boras with Hutchinson tubulars and the special Campy carbon brake pads thrown in, I'll be glad to cut out the middle man and let you keep that extra $100 in your pocket. My asking price of $2100 would still be a good $600 less than what Excel is selling just the wheels for.
But I honestly can use the $$$ and if there's someone else in the RBR community who can provide a better home for these wheels than I can, post a follow up with your email address, and I'll contact you.

|I'd love to have a bike like that someday. I entered one
of the contests but I'll likely win more spam to my e-mail

|If I were you I would not ride this puppy at all and sell it as is probably on Ebay. They are worth a fortune. Use the money to buy a TCR Composite Team bike and you will still have 5k left over. The team composite is full campy record and nearly the same frame.|
|What would a collector would pay for the whole rig?||BergMann|
Jul 29, 2003 7:34 PM
|Cyclingnews claimed the bike was worth $10,000, which I find a bit hard to believe, but then again, I'm a rider, not a collector.
What do you think a collector would pay for this bike?
The Composite team retails for $4500. Do you really think I could get $9000+ for it?
To be perfectly honest, I'd rather have a stock bike and a new MTB to boot.
If there is someone out there who will derive that much enjoyment from hanging this bike on their wall, I'd be more than happy to oblige them.
|Why would you want to get rid of the wheels?||Smeagol|

|After all it is part of a limited edition run, and it will hold its value more if you keep it together the way it came.|

|I'm afraid I'm a bit too much of a pragmatist to fetishize a use object.
Don't get me wrong, I love beautiful, high-performance gear, but if I were interested in conserving the value of the bike, I wouldn't ride it period.
Perhaps I will try my hand on Ebay with a nice, high opening bid and see what happens.
