Anyone know any good climbs within say, half an hour or an hours drive of Washington, DC?

The climb up Mt. Weather is pretty good:

Farther out, the climb from Sperryville to Skyline Drive up Route 211 is also pretty. Start in Sperryville, go over the mountain (7.5 miles) into the Page Valley, catch lunch in Luray, and then pedal back over the mountain.

There are so many hills in and around DC that you have to define what you're talking about. If you're looking for CO type long-a55 stuff, you're pretty well out of luck that close to the city.

West of Marshall has a great loop that I've done. Lots of hills on that one...

The Rock Creek Park ride is hilly.

If you wanna go mtn biking, Gambrill State Park is good.

Etc.

Go talk to the local shops, they'll be able to tell you about some of the better routes. Look up my friend Dave at the PBS in Reston (if he's still there!) for more info.
