Alright- let's get 'em out on the table (no pun intended).

I usually stick to a bagel, water, and granola before I
head out. After it's usually some sort of energy bar or
turkey sandwich to get carbs and protein back into my

Which comes first after a 30 mile ride- carbs or protein,
and how much of each?

Anyone have some protein smoothie recipies?

Yum Yum .. getting hungry; time to go ride.

I fell into this habit early this season because tastes and feels sooooooo good. I stopped doing this for a week and I dropped 4lbs. So now I do it for the taste, the feel, and to keep some weight on.

Bagels &/ pasta. Lots of water. Gel shot just before crankin'

Gel shot, finish any carb drink, get pre-cooked pasta or brown rice out, mix with can of tuna, add raisins & pasta sauce. While heating eat a bananna. Lot's 'o water.

Pre: Grits ...Humma Hah

Hominy grits with an egg are my favorite cycling breakfast. I consume these 2-3 hours before the start and then I'm on fire for 50 miles. All of my best distance rides were fueled by grits.

Post: Depends. After a century I'm often famished, and will devour all of my remaining snack supply just sitting in the truck, then go find a burger. I'm not a picky eater after a century.
instant grits? nmDougSloan

Quick grits (cook in 3-4 minutes) ...Humma Hah

I will use the instant grits if in a motel, but the "Quick" variety are processed less and seem to burn more steadily and longer.

Real hominy grits would probably be best, but take about half an hour to cook and I've never liked the flavor.

Pre: 6-cup pot o' coffee and 2 PB&Js (easy on the PB!)
Post: Metabolol, 2 poptarts, and a can of Dr. Pepper.

Recover for a little on the couch, get hungry again, then go for the Mexican food! Bean/rice/cheese, or California Burritos.

One of these days, I'll weigh 155# again... (Yeah, when they have to cut off one of my legs!)
