|Rode my new Bianchi in the rain over the weekend - it is filthy...
Does anyone have a rain bike, that they ride in less than perfect conditions?
If so, what is it?

|I have a rain bike - rode it all too much from last october to this april - it's an overstock frame that I purchased on ebay. It was unpainted so I had it powdercoated and threw leftover parts onto it. The downside of the rain bike is that it's raining when you ride it - I'm glad I have it though.|

|buying a lemond Poprad cyclocross on layaway. I'm getting her upgraded to shimano 105 from sora. Eventually, I'll put some chris king on her to make her more rain worthy. I have about 2 more weeks till she's mine. I'm getting her exclusively for rainy days and commuting cuz I'm too anal about my other bike. I'll be sure to post lots of pics!!!!|

|I ride in most anything. Fenders on the bike make rain easier to deal with.|

|I ride it in the good weather too. Actually, when you think about it carbon is as good as anything in the rain because you don't have to worry about water corroding the frame. However, the rest of the stuff on the bike gets abused when you ride in the rain. I wonder what the wear ratio is for components in rain vrs. good weather. I bet you it is 10 to 1. You pick up all that grit and it is hard on stuff.|

|I have a mtn bike with city tires, full fenders & mudflaps. I use it for rain rides, for towing my kids burley and the occasional commute. It saves me a lot of time as I don't usually clean it when I come back from a rain ride. I bounce it once or twice and let it dry. I keep the chain well lubed.|

|rain, winter, trainer, brevets, 'cross, steep mountains (triple/xt). soon to be promoted to 'cross and steep mountains *only*--kg286 to be introduced to the stable, will be new bad weather bike (cf/cf/105).
the c-c is a tank. aside from it being cromo (mind the rust), it's bombproof.

|Is there any reason for not riding a bike in the rain? I can't see the frame corroding, but I could be wrong. I have a TCR2 which is brand new, so I don't take it out at all in the rain, it gets the Cadillac treatment. But what can I do to get it out in the rain? What could go wrong?

|My Rain bike is my IF Crown Jewel. Sealed tubes help tremendously in stopping the rust factor. I just hang it from the hook in my garage and let her drip dry. I haveit built with older ultrga parts so I do not worry to much about the rain. BTW I also live in N California so I really do not worry to much about the rain.. My Waterford is my bone dry sunny day bike|

|... its biggest shortcoming is an unsealed American cruiser cup and cone BB (aka "hangar"). Good to frequently regrease it if ridden in the rain. I'm thinking of upgrading it to an English BB adapter that would carry a spare Campagnolo sealed BB I have lying around.|| |
