I'm sorry, but THAT is toooooo skinny. Fitness is a continuim. This is the other extreme. Looking at this phote, its no problem believing that the pro tour riders will not see their 80th birthdays. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, my grandparents are in their 80's. I'm not looking forward to it myself. But really, at that level, what they do to themselves is not "fit"ness.
and a shower..........wait........those are tan lines. nmTower

Put that picture in black and white and he looks like a prisoner of war. That is pitiful.

these guys don't have anything to fall back on. they can't just start burning their fat reserves, they don't have any! if they don't stay on top of eating and drinking, they bonk big time. jesus he looks awful.

I'm not talking about climbing, that's obvious. He's a great tt'er also. How does he do it, on the flats no less?

I was sitting at a Panera Bread (coffee, bagels and pastries) in Boulder, CO after last years Giro. I was in Boulder on business and had run down there to get some breakfast. I was sitting outside on the patio and this guy comes walking up, and the whole time I am thinking how much he looks like Tyler Hamilton. Duh, about the time he walks by me, I remember I am in Boulder, home to more professional cyclists than anywhere else in the US, and it actually is Tyler Hamilton. He had on baggy shorts and shirt, but I remember looking at his calves. And his lower legs were no bigger than my forearm. We all see pictures of these guys, and they have such muscle definition that they appear large, but they are so tiny. But, you are correct, he looks very unhealthy in that picture. He does need a burger and fries.

Even though he looks unhealthy remember that he's within 10 minutes of the race leader in the TDF, and riding with a broken bone. It's a big sacrifice and hard on your body to be at that level of competition. It's definitely not for me.

...I'm sure he will treat himself to that burger. Maybe even a milkshake. After today, Lance might even be buying...
Momma, don't let your babies grow up to be climbers!niteschaos

Yeah, same for alot of other guys that have crashes where they don't hit anything other than the ground and break something. My last crash looked like something from NASCAR with the seat coming off, but I limped away from it. I'm also 190 pounds and 6'2", a little more mass in the ass than them thar climbers.

LA is normally around 160 or the upper 150s - and you can clearly see he has much more muscle than Tyler. He is also two inches taller.

After that TT and the bad dehydration though, check the pictures and you wont have a hard time believeing that he dropped under 150.
