|I will put in his performance on the stage to Liege in 1995. He audaciously attacked on the cobbled roads, and only Bruyneel could latch onto him. It was also one fo the fastest ever tour stages.
That was pure class, even if he gave the stage win to Bruyneel. I doubt the Texan could ever accomplish that.
And his time trial in 1992 - coming in 3 minutes quicker than anyone else.... in light of yesterdays' storming of the roads by Der Kaiser... can anopther Tour contender put that much time into anyone?

|i would say it was the year rominger gave him a run. had tony not crashed and lost two minutes early on, he would have won. i remember the incredible pace the two of them were doing on the climbs. awesome. but i think this year's tour is the best we've seen in many years.|| |
