The frame/fork is about $350. A good/creative shop could probably build you up something pretty cool for $1000. That's what I'd get new for that price, anyway. You don't give much info about yourself or what you're looking for, though... I assume you've checked out Giant, Lemond, Bianchi, etc., and the latest crazy deals from Supergo. And of course you might consider used...

Bianchi Imola, 2002js5280

or is it B-Yankee ala Phil ;-) Girlfriend managed to find a Imola, steel (631 I think) w/ 105 components at $1k. Only downside is threaded stem and CXP33 wheels but you have to cut some corners at that price. Beautiful bike though. The 2003 is threadless but another hundred or two more. Jamis and Giant are other good value bikes at that price point. Probably won't be able to get Ultegra at that price without cutting big corners with frame quality. Usually better to get a good quality frame and upgrade the components as they wear out. Best advice is good ride a bunch at that price range and see what you like and seems like the best value to you.
The one I bought on Ebay!wink

I'd get the Felt F65 or F55 and have money left over for entry fees and gas money to go to the races.

I bought a Fuji Roubaix from for $895 and they shipped it to me for free. It's a x fusion frame with a carbon fork full 105 group with a tripple crankset, Ritchey wheels, bar and stem it weighs 18.6 lbs and I love mine, best bike and buy for the money. I have ridden it 700 miles since May and I haven't had any problems so far, the seats fairly comfortable also.
