Annoying Problem...OPUSsum
Jul 17, 2003 7:56 AM
I just got my new Opus Andante, and after a few long rides my rim walls are quite black from the brake pads, does anyone know how to clean this off? Without using harsh paint-peeling chemicals, my rims (Mavic CXP) have a painted groove or channel in the center of the surface.

Thanks,
Adam

Get scotch brite scouring pads (or equivalent) & use a little of any kind of spray cleaner.
Sometimes stell wool leaves little bits that get into the brake pads, or just show as rust.

put them on your rim, apply the brake, ride around the driveway. Quick/easy way to clean your rims. If the crud is stubborn you can add some type of cleaner (I use citrus cleaner) but it lessens the friction.
