|Sorry....but if I put "condition" instead of "situation" it could be construed as an injury. I don't want to ruin anyone's fun this evening.
From Velonews: "The ONCE rider who was second on the general classification was immediately taken out of the race in an ambulance. He was diagnosed with a fractured upper femur, a complex fracture of the right elbow, a simple fracture of the right wrist and multiple contusions to the hip"
All I can say is "OUCH"

|He has many situations: 2nd in the GC, his crash, his inability to successfully attack Lance, etc....
Instead of "situation" maybe I should have said "major crash that almost took out Lance but Lance did a hop & a skip and buzzed around him only to find himself in a field in a hairpin turn but managed to rejoin the lead group but shaking like a leaf (no spoiler in this one)" Would that have been better??? ;)
...and only my wife can call me 'dumb arse' You don't know me well enough for that pet name.

|I didn't take it any other way than as friendly kidding. But...mine ain't hairy.
If you don't have OLN (like me), go to Eurosport.com for a great 2 minute video of the "situation". It caught all of the action

|Beloki tried to! Saiz was the one who said no. Beloki wanted to get up and finish the stage at least.

|He was moaning like a baby (not that I blame him-that was NASTY). He couldn't have continued if his life depended on it.|
|Here's one quote about it.. Eurosport has a few too.||russw19|

|This is from cyclingnews.com Beloki thought he could still get up and ride. Part of his screaming in pain was when he put his broken arm down to push himself up to get to his bike. Watch the coverage again if you don't believe me.
"As Beloki descended in the lead of the Cat 3 côte after attacker Alex Vinokourov (Telekom), ONCE team manager Manolo Saiz told him in his earpiece to let Armstrong lead the chase, not him. But it was too late. Beloki went down hard and as the ONCE rider lay on the ground screaming in pain, Saiz could see his injuries were serious. Brave Beloki told Saiz he could go on but Manolo told him 'tranquillo', as he realized his rider's Tour de France was over. Likely out for the season, Beloki will be operated on in Gap tonight for his broken elbow, then be flown to Vitoria, near his home in Spain where his wife Rema is expecting a baby in a few weeks, for two further operations on his broken femur and finger."
Could this be a jounalist taking license with the situation? Sure, but it was reported by 4 different people who eventually got there before Beloki was put in the ambulance, that he was still trying to get back on the bike and finish the stage.
