Will we be able to run the 10 spd on a 9 spd hub? All TDF riders w/ 04 D-A have 03 wheelsets (9 spd). What do you think, custom casettes?
Mine gets here in September on my new Trek...let you knowCARBON110

However, you will be able to use any shimano wheel with it. They are adding "shims" or spacers for 9spd on a 10spd free hub.

I have a friend who works at Shimano. It was told to me that you will be able to run 10 speed cogs on 9 speed hubs, but not the other way around. You can not use the 9 speed cogs on the newer 10 speed hubs (why you would want to, I don't know...)

The theory around here with that in mind is that 10 speed will actually be narrower than 9 speed, hence the shim at the back of cluster for 9 speed wheels on 10 speed hubs, but not the other way around.
