|How often should bike be "tuned up"?||willy2351|

|I do a good job in regularly cleaning and lubing drivetrain, but am otherwise mechanically inept. My bike is working great, so there is no obvious reason to bring it into the LBS. Still, I assume that, like with a car, it makes sense to have a bike "tuned up" periodically. Does that make sense and, if so, how many miles do you experts recommend between tune-ups?
Thanks very much.

|If you have Shimano - Never It almost tunes itself!
If you have Campy like I do then you might want to make an adjustment after every ride.

|Here's what I do with my 5200...
I bought the bicycling mag. guide to bike maintenance and I check my bike before and after every single ride for the basics. About every 90-120 days I take it by my LBS (who I've established a great and expensive relationship with) and they almost always will go over everything on the bike for free.
I do this not so much because anything is neccesarily wrong, but because it's nice to have an extra set of eyes who know what they are doing looking over my bike for anything I might be missing.
So there's my .02
