|This sport can be expensive....don't tell my wife||PaulCL|

|This year has been particularly expensive for me:
cracked frame: replaced for $2000 (includes bar, stem, build, etc)
three trashed wheels - about $300 in rebuilds
burning through tires due to bad luck..$100
lots of flats - more than usual
new chain,cleats, etc..the normal stuff
a cycling vacation
plus assorted stuff for the vacation...
and it seems that a lot of clothes are worn out and need to be replaced
My most recent bill was just this morning. I got run off the road on Wednesday by some AH in a truck. Didn't wreck, but trashed my rear speeddream wheel. That's the second time this year I've done that. The first rear wheel to bite the dust was due to me hitting a pothole while riding downhill into the sun.
I just had to order two new tires yesterday to replace the one ruined in Wednesday's incident. Sorry, just complaining and ranting. It seems that everytime I turn around, I have to write another $100 check. My wife is starting to get P.O.ed I guess I'm having one of those years.
Ok, I'm done. Maybe I'll skip out of work early and go ride - if I dare!! Have a safe weekend. Paul

|you're lucky that your issues can all be resolved with money, instead of with PT, recovery time, and healing. write those checks with a smile and keep 'em turning. it's cheaper than a sedentary lifestyle.|

|Now you've made me feel bad for feeling bad. You are right. I was very lucky not to crash hard earlier this week.
Now I just need some big juicy rationalization to walk out of my office and get on my bike.....hmmmm....how about "no business ever happens after noon on a summer Friday"....could that one work????

|nobody works on mondays or fridays--they're all out playing golf with "clients". mine is now, "i'm going to be working saturday night from home, i'm outta here."
you probably don't need an excuse.
have a nice time riding, and be careful!

|That's what I did. Sue, initially it's expensive (buying a new bike, helmet, kit for her), but eventually it pays off 'cause she knows how much the things cost, but she UNDERSTANDS why you need to buy the helmet that Lance wears for $150, or why the only shorts that fit just right start around $100, etc.|| |
