About 6 months ago I wanted a SS Road/Messenger bike to get around town and do a little fitness training as I'm becoming a Freerider and want to still keep a healthy set of lungs and maintain some sort of excerise...My LBS has a VERY helpful staff and my SS credit goes to Russ for helping me build and suggest what would work for my budget when setting out to build the ultimate SS!

Surly Steam Roller
Campy Record Track Crank 49t and Campy Carbon BB Track
Metawire Brake Cables
Avid 7's for Brake Levers
Cane Creek SL 200 for Brakes
Cane Creek Solo Headset
Eggbeater S/S Pedels
Thompson Seatpost
SLR Seat
16t Shimano Freewhell w/Track Cog on order for Hub
Surly Hubs w/rear Flip-Flop
Deep "V" Velocity Rims
DT SWISS Spokes " TIED & SODERED (sp?)
Nokian Cross Tires

Again...Big thanks to Russ and Surly for helping me along the way! And now i'm looking forward to burning many miles of pavement along the way

Who built the wheels?

Did you go flatbar since you already had MTB parts lying around?

This was a really fun bike to build. Especially those Campy Track Cranks. The owner, Boat Boy, wanted a fun Cafe' Racer type gettin around bike. Since we live in a fairly flat town in a pretty flat stage, this is what he picked. I just built it... and that was fun. And I recommended the wheels and whispered a few things about Campy to him along the way... everything else was his own doing. I must say, it turned out looking and riding nicer than I thought a single speed could.

Have fun riding Kev!
