Oh Sh*t, I just found a lump...Swat Dawg

...in my crotch!!! I performed a little (cough) self-examination and saw that I'm getting a friggin' saddle sore (Damn P.O.S. Performance shorts!). Honestly, I'm filled with some pride cause it's cool that I'm riding enough to get a sore, but it sucks more than it's worth in pride points. What the hell do I do? I can't stop riding, but this thing is just going to get worst. It is a little raw right now, but not ridiculously painful. I'm going to at least get some bagbalm to lather up with. Anything else I should do? Please don't mention anything about lancing, unless you're convinced that that's all I can do, cause I don't have the inner strength to do that to myself, and am too embarassed to get someone else to do it. A little advice is appreciated. Thanks

In spite of all the non-helpful answers, your on the right track. I use Bag Balm every ride to prevent saddle sores. I don't think lancing it's a good idea right now because you could risk infection, I've never lanced a saddle sore. Just use the Bag Balm for now and look at alternatives if it gets worse. My daughter will be on campus August 26th, see you then.
Butt'r works as well as assos cream but cheaper+its a tube (nm)andy02

I have checked and we have two jersey's left. One Medium and one large. There is a good chance that we will make another order in the fall. But we can get you one of the jerseys that's left. I should be on campus when you arrive.

Mine is still not gone after a year and having it lanced. Becasue I didn't stop riding. Simple fact is if you don't stop riding it won't go away. I did everything from sitz bathes to antibacterial soap to bag balm to squeezing the everloving sh*t out of it. STOP RIDING, and go to the doctor to get antibiotics. Or live with it.

right up there, if you know what i mean, that developed last summer. it was never really a boil or a sore, and didn't really hurt either, just a lump way down under the skin that would shrink or grow larger over time, but would never really go away. lancing and such did nothing to it.

so like i said, it never really went away, until one day earlier this spring i just gave it a squeeze and the whole thing just exploded all over. after that it healed up within a week.
Ok, That's just gross, really gross!!! (NM)Swat Dawg

Was following Matheny's (or is it Pavelka?) advice in his book on long distance cycling.

No need to stop riding. Use bag balm or butt'r during rides but otherwise stay away from those because they interfere with draining. Wash it with Hibiclens often. Soak in warm tub. Use topical boil cream during rides if needed for pain.

The couple I've had went away in 2-3 days this way.
