LA Commuters, question for you!mrrun2fast

I plan on commuting to work by bike soon, and I was wondering if you knew the best route from Venice to Century City, specifically Pico Blvd.

Are there any web sites that plan out bike commuting routes?

Thank you in advance for any information.

I don't commute, but I do ride to the Century City area from time to time on weekends. I usually ride up Main St. through Venice/Santa Monica, and then take Broadway east to Santa Monica. Take Santa Monica to little Santa Monica which puts you at Century City's doorstep. The sketchiest part is where Santa Monica crosses under the 405. I would think that Pico would be bad anywhere near Santa Monica City College because of traffic, the college, only two lanes with parking on street, etc.

There is a website www.bikemetro.com that will map a route for you but in my case (I am still considering commuting by bike) I didn't think it was the best route.

This is probably a longer route but traffic might be better by following this route (I've only ridden part of it on the weekend). From Venice, take the Ballona Creek Bike path up to Duquesne. Take Duquesne North through Culver City. Duquesne changes into Hughes. Hughes ends near the 10 FWY. You'll have to make a left, then a right, then a left to get on Manning (I don't know the street names, but you'll go under the 10 FWY. Take Manning all the way to Pico, Olympic or Little Santa Monica to get to Century City.

You'll want to check a map to verify my directions. Hope this helps.
